Hey, it’s Gavin,

I spoke at Vidcon in Anaheim last week doing a seminar on how we implement the Jumpwire Social Media System.

The Jumpwire team put together a great list of articles this week.

As you know we are researching Facebook dwell time. Facebook doesn’t give us any data on how long people dwell on newsfeed posts but here is a good article on how they calculate it.

It’s getting pretty bad for Snapchat. Most of my team no longer use it and I’ve gone from using it daily to using it weekly if at all. The only caveat I will add is that Facebook went through this sort of lull while they set up their ad servers 5 or 6 years ago. From the article: Snapchat dropped 50% in average unique viewers per story from June 2016 to June 2017.

From my team: It’s all about your ‘grid.’ Archive photos that don’t get enough engagement. Keep only the best. Stories are for your daily personal life while your grid is for your best self or your ‘want to be’ self. “There’s definitely no room for basic selfies or latte art.” There’s a divide between being authentic in Stories and being “fake” in the grid, so what is real? Good article on how you can’t be basic on Instagram anymore.

Pinners going above 50 Pins a day see a large drop off of Repins. Join less boards, of better quality, and actively engage on them. Low performing boards bring down your average repin rate. Pinterest loves to share content that gets a lot of repins, from pinners who have a high repin rate. Weak group boards lower both of those averages. Article
