Our new webvideo partnership

We have partnered with the company that created the original version of the “House Wives of Orange County” IKM to produce a TV and web reality series following a eco fashion house called Preloved. The main character and owner of Preloved, Julia, moves at the speed of light and is a no nonsense type that gets the job done. Her company makes high fashion out of recycled clothing. It’s a great idea.

Here is the first episode. “Preloved Fashion – Ep 1 – Deadline for Anthropologie”

Chatroulette Explained

You may have heard of this new site that takes video chatting to the next level or maybe you have been ‘Nexted’ and want to know why. If you are curious but don’t want to take the plunge this is a great video to show you how it all works.

Multichoice South Africa

I presented to the Multichoice and MNET executive teams at the Fancourt Resort near the town of George in South Africa. Part of a two day retreat. Very interesting as the other presenters gave me a good overview of what was happening in Africa as well as around the world.

Other speakers included:
Moderator – Journalist – Kate Bulkley (www.katebulkley.com)
Nick George – PwC Strategy – Media (UK)
Tom Toumazis – Endemol – Chief Commercial Officer (UK)
Celia Taylor – Sky1 – Commissioning Editor, Factual and Features (UK)
Jon – Chief Operating Officer – Premier Media Group (PMG) (Australia)
Stephen Nuttall – Director of British Sky Broadcasting’s Commercial Group. (UK)
Justin Hewelt, Director, PayMedia Consulting Group (UK/Australia)
Jonathan Sykes. ex-Managing Director for TV, Tiscali (UK)

Below is the slide show I presented. I was not able to show the whole thing as we ran out of time.

My learnings about the TV and Digital business in South Africa:
-Broadband is very slow and quite expensive – 800MB costs 300Rand (approx $42USD – 5 cents a MB)
-The TV business has very little competition in South Africa from the web and the advertising market is stable.
-Mobile is main form of communication. Mobile web is gaining traction.
-Facebook has over 1.2 million users in South Africa.
-Twitter has a presence.
