We have partnered with the company that created the original version of the “House Wives of Orange County” IKM to produce a TV and web reality series following a eco fashion house called Preloved. The main character and owner of Preloved, Julia, moves at the speed of light and is a no nonsense type that gets the job done. Her company makes high fashion out of recycled clothing. It’s a great idea.
Here is the first episode. “Preloved Fashion – Ep 1 – Deadline for Anthropologie”

My learnings about the TV and Digital business in South Africa:
-Broadband is very slow and quite expensive – 800MB costs 300Rand (approx $42USD – 5 cents a MB)
-The TV business has very little competition in South Africa from the web and the advertising market is stable.
-Mobile is main form of communication. Mobile web is gaining traction.
-Facebook has over 1.2 million users in South Africa.
-Twitter has a presence.
